Terms and Conditions

 

  1. Definitions

    Global Educational Guardians means Global Educational Guardians Ltd, The Parent or legal guardian of the Student, ‘the Student means the student to whom this agreement relates, ‘the School’ means the school or university at which the Student is placed, ‘the Host Family’ means any host family with whom the Student is provided with Homestay accommodation

  2. Global Educational Guardians obligations

    2.1. To liaise with the school, Homestay, parents and educational agents throughout the duration of guardianship agreement, and to provide the school with consent for activities to be undertaken by the student.

    2.2. To provide adequate homestay accommodation when required for the student (half terms, exeats and school holidays).

    2.3. To ensure that all guardianship personnel and personnel offering outsourced services, who come into direct contact with students in our care, are recruited using Safe Recruitment Practices and are formally screened through the Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau.2.4 To arrange transportation for airport transfers to and from school and transportation where necessary for the student to and from the host family for half terms, exeats and school holidays as required.

  3. Parents Obligations

    3.1. The parents named on the Application Form confirm that they legally entitled to act as guardians to the student, and able to instruct GEG Ltd. to act on their behalf in providing guardianship care to their child. GEG Ltd. will have no such responsibility if the Student is under the care of the Parents, School or outside of the UK or has disregarded the policies set out in GEG Ltd. Handbook.

    3.2. That GEG Ltd. can act on their behalf in their absence, “in loco parentis”, with our express authority to act in any situation, including in the event of emergencies. The Parents also agree that GEG Ltd. may sign on their behalf if permission is required for anaesthetic and/or surgical treatment. Whilst every effort will always be made to contact parents in the event of an emergency, this may not always be possible.

    3.3. That GEG Ltd. will sign on parent’s behalf when reasonable school requests are received for parental/guardianship permission for your child to participate in school activities or excursions.

    3.4. That all bookings and payments to Homestays will be handled via the GEG Ltd. offices and no approaches will be made direct.

    3.5. That a general minimum standard of behaviour is required from the student. Serious or continual misconduct could lead to the expulsion of the student from the school and/or termination of the guardianship agreement by GEG Ltd.

    3.6. That the guardianship agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and that it shall be effective from the “Start Date” above assuming that GEG Ltd. have received cleared funds in accordance with the terms hereof.

    3.7. The parents agree with GEG Ltd. Policies as set out in the GEG Ltd. Parents Handbook.

    3.8. To be responsible for all fees payable in due time as set out in Section 8 Schedule of Payment.

    3.9. To inform GEG Ltd. about the changes in their or students’ circumstance, such as change of address or other contact details and any changes in Student’s medical condition.

 

  1. Termination

    4.1. GEG Ltd. or the Parents may terminate the guardianship agreement at any time by giving to the other party one full term’s notice in writing. This means, therefore, that any such notice, whether given during term time or during school holidays, must expire at the end of the following term. If one terms notice is not given, the Parents will be liable for one terms Guardianship fees.

    4.2. In any circumstances of termination of the agreement, any credit balance of the Students Expenses Deposit will be refunded to the Parent, once all obligations and charges have been charged to the Deposit.

    4.3. If the Student is excluded from the School, then GEG Ltd. will be released immediately from its obligations to the Parent or Student and the Parent shall not be entitled to any refund of fees. A separate agreement must be executed for any new arrangement between GEG Ltd. and the parents of the student.

    4.4. In the event that a parent needs to cancel or alter previously booked homestay accommodation, 3 weeks’ notice is required in writing. Failure to comply with this will render the parents liable to pay cancellation fees. Cancellation of a host family more than 7 days and up to 3 weeks incurs a 50% charge and less than 7 days incurs a 100% charge.

  1. Extent and Exclusion of GEG Ltd. Responsibilities

    5.1. GEG Ltd. will inspect and check Homestays as in Point 2.3 above but cannot accept responsibility for the actions of the Homestays in relation to the student.

    5.2. GEG Ltd. cannot accept responsibility for any losses incurred or damage caused by the student to the School or Homestay or any other party at any time, and it is recommended that the Parent should arrange insurance for the Student for loss/or damage to personal belongings and third party liability.
